Our New Temporary Addition
One of my favorite shows that I hate to watch is Animal Cops. I always end up in tears by the end and it never ceases to amaze me at the horrible things that some people do to animals. Last Thursday after watching a particularly sad episode, I called Brad in tears and told him that I needed to do something to help. So I headed over to the Humane Society and signed up as a foster parent. New Years Eve morning (just 2 days later) I got a phone call that there was a 2 week old puppy that the mom was rejecting so I ran right over to pick him up. He's a border collie puppy, cute as can be and worth every hour of sleep that I've missed over the last 2 nights so far. The lady warned me that he had an upper respiratory infection and although he's on meds, he could possibly die. I have tried to prepare myself for that moment but in my heart, I doubt it will ever come. Aside from sniffles, he seems to be doing quite well. After losing a 4 day old puppy a few years ago in the middle of the night, now I find myself waking up in a panic and checking him but he's nestled in his box with his heating pad sleeping soundly. I went into town today and got an actual baby bottle for him since he wasn't nursing well off of the puppy bottle. It's so cute. I'm nervous about the lack of sleep once I start work again on Wednesday but I'll be carting him there so I can watch him throughout the day. Anyway, I'm excited to keep you all updated on his health and hope to post more pictures soon!!! Oh yeah, his name is DASH (yep, after The Incredibles). If he's awake, he's on the go. I thought it fit him appropriately, especially seeing as he's a border collie.
